Time: 2:20 p.m. HST
Location: Ko’olau Ballrooms, Kane'ohe, Hawai’i
Description: This presentation will examine and share information about methodologies and reporting structures that are easily accessible to practitioners and that may foster their understanding of findings within diverse contexts and facilitate changes to practice. Specifically, this presentation will discuss how two machine-learning analytic models of analysis, which include cluster analysis and classification and regression trees, might lead to more equitable student placements in college. The presentation will provide an overview of emergent data structures that are invisible if traditional analyses methods are used.
Audience: The primary audience for this event will be participants at the 2019 H-PEA Conference in Hawai‘i. This session will be relevant for evaluators interested in examining data from multiple angles, particularly those interested in more deeply examining otherwise invisible subgroup discrepancies.
